We have received financial support for the organisation of the conference entitled "Regional Conservation and Storage Centres. Contemporary Green Tools for the Protection of Cultural Heritage", under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), Component: Economic Resilience and Competitiveness; Investment A2.5.1: Programme Supporting the Activities of Cultural Sector and Creative Industries Entities for the Stimulation of Their Development. The value of the grant is PLN 64,646.11.
The aim of the conference is to present to the broad community involved in the protection of cultural heritage the direction of evolution and contemporary best practices in the area of preventive conservation, whose current objective is to care for the heritage of the past without generating new risks for present and future generations, and thus to create conditions for the safe and longest possible preservation of cultural assets.
The conference is addressed to representatives of museums from the Małopolska and Silesia regions, their organisers, private collectors, entrepreneurs and scientists.
The global museum sector continues to grapple with the ongoing challenge of museum collection storage, which significantly affects Polish museums as well. A consequence of these progressive changes is the need to build modern storage facilities which, in accordance with contemporary standards, ensure a high level of collection protection while applying economical construction costs and low energy consumption during operation.
The RCKM topic will be discussed on multiple levels – from conservation issues, through organisational and legal matters, financing and management of such facilities, to international best practices. Speakers will include specialists in the fields of conservation (Mr Janusz Czop), museum law (Ms Paulina Gwoździewicz-Matan), formal and legal solutions (Mr Marcin Belon), private collecting (Mr Piotr Bazylko), as well as sociology and finance.
The conclusions of the conference will be presented in the form of a report (in both printed and digital format) and made publicly available.
Date: 20 November 2024 (Wednesday)
Venue: Forty Kleparz in Kraków, ul. Kamienna 2, 30-001 Kraków
